Heidi Hutchins, LMFT

Providing therapy to individuals, couples, and families.

About My Practice

We all face challenges and hurdles in our lives, which can feel overwhelming at times. These challenges can come in many forms, including mental health, struggling relationships, grief and loss, and difficult or traumatic experiences.  As a therapist, I believe in my clients' ability to face these challenges and become stronger as they overcome them.  Therapy helps facilitate the changes you want to make in your life.

I currently offer home and community based therapy services, meaning that I come to you for the appointments.  This makes it easier for you, as well as giving me the opportunity to better understand your environment.  It allows you to work on your goals in your own domain. I also offer online sessions for situations where in person is not practical or best.

I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, which means I am trained to work with individuals, couples and families in therapy. I look at my clients in the context of their environment - which includes families, communities, and cultures - as well as looking at their individual characteristics and personalities. I am a clinical member of the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapists (AAMFT); for more information on the field of marriage and family therapy, visit www.aamft.org.

My approach to therapy varies with each client.  I bring together and draw on the strengths of multiple frameworks; some of these are narrative, collaborative, Bowenian/intergenerational, and cognitive/behavioral approaches. Key elements in my therapy are using a collaborative and empowering approach with my clients to give them the strength to make the needed changes; being direct (confronting problems instead of avoiding them); and bringing a calm presence to what can be a difficult process.
